Message compiler

Printer-friendly version

The Message Compiler Editor is a small utility to create. manage and compile Windows message files to be used with the Windows event viewer. Creating a message file is s multistep process that requires to write the source message file, compile it with the SDK message compiler (mc.exe), then adding it to a resouce file and compile it. The last step is to add it to an executable (exe or dll) and register it with the event viewer. The Message Compiler Editor automates the first two steps by generating both the message and resource files, and compiling them (mc.exe and rc.exe from the Windows SDK are required).
